Eversheds Sutherland Welcomes Counsel John Ramirez to US Finance Practice Group’s Restructuring and Insolvency Team in New York Office

Based in the New York office, Mr. Ramirez has more than a decade of experience representing debtors and official and ad hoc creditor committees in complex Chapter 11 cases, with a particular focus on the pharmaceuticals and healthcare sectors.

Mr. Ramirez started his legal career clerking for the Honorable Robert Drain in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, which was a formative experience that laid the foundation for his approach to insolvency law. Since then, he has advised clients across a wide range of industries, crafting tailored and strategic legal solutions that address the unique challenges of each case. He also has extensive experience working with debtors and lenders.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Mr. Ramirez practiced in the New York offices of several major global law firms, focused on business finance and restructuring.

Mr. Ramirez’s arrival follows the hires in August 2024 of Finance Partner Todd Meyers and Counsel Danielle (Dahni) Barav-Johnson, reflecting the restructuring and insolvency team’s growing reputation in offering clients deep experience, industry knowledge and innovative legal strategies. The team is part of the broader US Finance Practice Group that provides comprehensive counsel to clients engaged in a diverse range of banking and finance transactions.
